The Free Lance–Star: Jury expected to get Blanton case Monday:

Closing arguments are set for Monday, and then the jury will begin deliberations.

03/07/2008 Donna Blanton retrial news roundup.

The Free Lance–Star: Blanton’s debts detailed in court:

Jurors in the murder trial of Donna Blanton here yesterday were told of the defendant’s actions before and after her state trooper-husband was shot to death in their home.

[…]

Witnesses have testified this week that the defendant talked repeatedly about getting a financial settlement as the result of a lawsuit after she sued the company that fired her in 2002.

But yesterday, Charles Emmons, her former boss at Quin Rivers, a nonprofit community action program in Caroline, testified that she did file a complaint of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He provided a letter, however, dated March 30, 2003, saying the claim was unfounded by the commission.

Henry, who testified yesterday, said Donna Blanton talked about winning money from the lawsuit. She also said that her ex-husband told her one time in the defendant’s presence that if he died, “Donna would be a rich woman.”

[…]

Angela Altizer, who is the longtime girlfriend of Donna Blanton’s ex-husband, Glen Udart, said she talked with the defendant the night after the funeral.

[…]

Altizer said the defendant also “asked if I knew how to get blood out of hard wood floors.” The home on almost 13 acres of land in Ruther Glen has hardwood floors.

Does Robby Wittless have a challenger?

That would be Rob Wittman if you want to get all official and whatnot.

Fred2Blue is reporting (March 2 and March 5) that the rumor going around is that Keith Hummel, formerly an emergency room medical doctor and current owner of Hummel Vineyards in Westmoreland County is considering a run in the 1st Congressional District.

While lacking an “official” announcement, he has launched a blog and anyone considering a run against Rob Wittman gets a free promotion (and a permanent link on my blogroll): The Virginia Populist

Hopefully he does run, and saves me from having to write-in William Frawley or Ham Sandwich
